Week beginning Monday, 23rd December

The shortest day has been and gone, so that is a plus. It can only get better. Maybe by the time the season finally starts, the potholes in the roads will have been fixed. Driving on the west side of the Mynd is an adventure nowadays.

Anyway, there is a bit less rain over the coming week, though it is windy.

Monday: dry, probably WSW, maybe west. It looks too windy for PGs, but that's what we thought for Sunday, and it was ok. So we'll see. I think it's unlikely though. Maybe ok for hangies.

Tuesday: forecasts differ a bit. The best one says wet in the morning, drier in the afternoon, and not too strong westerlies. So that's the one I'll believe for the moment.

Wednesday: looks quite nice actually, so forget about family, or xmas dinners. The direction is an issue though - starting off west, going SE.

Thursday: wet, southerly, strong.

Friday: SW, cloudy, may be ok for strength.

Weekend: probably southerlies, probably dry.

And to those who don't have families - Don't worry, the crap (Xmas & hopefully weather) will soon be over.

Forecast for Sunday is influenced by high pressure as the jet stream moves northwards. Forecasts suggests fairly light and stable surface winds, direction SSW but increasing rapidly at height with a pronounced inversion. Some higher cloud forecast. Possible wave conditions so some caution needed as winds may increase quickly with some turbulence associated. Possible sites include Camlo and Shephers Tump.

No significant change this morning for Sun 29 Dec, winds SSW, moderate and likely gusting somewhat, wind speed increasing rapidly with height. Stable flow with pronounced inversion so possible wave present. Upper cloud likely to dampen any thermal activity.

With a SSW direction Clatter or Shepherds Tump, Camlo needs a bit more SW but a real risk of not being able to penetrate.
