Week beginning Monday, 26th November

Postby Geoffm » Sun Nov 25, 2018 6:30 pm

Another poor week ahead. The only possible day at the moment is Monday, N or NNE. Site choice is tricky though. Too much east in it, Sarn won't work. Corndon theoretically will, but not a great direction there for this time of year. Better options might be Hay Bluff or the Blorenge further south, or Lord's Seat/Mam Tor in the Peaks.

Tuesday onwards, forget it at the moment. Too windy every day.

Not contradicting Geoff, as the forecasts are varied, but the most recent RASP for tomorrow suggests it might be very light around here not enough to soar but possibly even NW. Peaks are supposed to be clagged in and likewise in south Wales. End of the week due to be westerly and just might be light enough for HG and maybe PG - should be clearer air than at present anyway.

Light NE at the moment, too light for Corndon. PGs are flying now at Lord's in the Peaks. Don't know about the other sites to the south, Hay Bluff or Blorenge.

Friday, Still a slight possibility, not necessarily around here, but maybe somewhere (due to rain and wind), but will keep an eye on it and advise if I can suggest anywhere with a decent chance.

Friday. Currently looking too gusty and windy inland, but the Welsh coast could be good for dune soaring, though not smooth due to the strong sea thermals. Direction WSW to West.

Graeme's got the right idea. Latest forecasts for tomorrow - generally nice air with cloudbase 3000ft or so, but too windy, probably even for HG's at the Mynd unless wave sets up and blocks it. Where clouds form they will grow a few thousand feet and might shower, but by far the nicest day either side for many days.

Sunny in land but close to the coast more chance of showers. Very windy off the irish sea, might even be a bit strong for dunes maybe. Elsewhere, there's a slim but possible chance down south, maybe milk hill, but not a great chance as could still be a bit strong.
