Competition Primer course
Posted by Geoff Minshull at 2010-06-15 07:51

This is a free course to introduce club pilots to XC flying through competitions. It is aimed primarily at hang glider pilots, but PG pilots are welcome to attend too. The use of GPS and comp formats will be much the same.

This course will run through the week prior to the last BOS round of the Open Series hang gliding comp, i.e. Monday 21st late morning to Friday 25th June. It will be based in Mid Wales, near Bishop's Castle and the format is to visit the local sites, hopefully fly them then have a structured Q&A session in the evening. If it is not flyable, the tutoring sessions might be more long winded!

Drop me an email so we can liaise about where to meet up etc. For those who intend to camp, there are already a few pilots going to stay at Foxholes campsite and the competition campsite at The Powis Arms, Lydbury North should also be available.

Hopefully you have read the outline for this in this month's Skywings. Unfortunately, the email address was wrong! It should be flyingvet@me.com. Please come along and find out what competition is about - you might be surprised.

The Club Class competition is aimed at ordinary club pilots who may not even have gone XC yet. This course is informal, full of dumb questions (possibly some dumb answers too and all about having fun. It doesn't matter if you can't make the whole week, even a single day will be immensely informative.
