hey folks ... after the few incidents we have had on the mynd in the last few weeks and the bad times :-(

on a conversation with chris rich was talking of "would it be possible" ??? to have a fund raising BBQ on the mynd soon ???

as we have all seen the helicopter in action and seen fellow flyer's taken away in them ... we were thinking it maybe a good way to put back as a club ???

i put it to all ... would people support this ???? is this an idea for the committee ???

hey please comment on your thoughts ...

cheers luke & chris

Air Ambualne Fund Raising

A fund raising event for the Air Ambulance is an excellent idea. With three visits from them in just 3 weeks on the Long Mynd I think we need to pay something back.

I’m definitely interested in supporting this.

Bring it on.

The committee would also welcome this. It's a great idea.

Everyone on the committee has been extremely busy over the last week dealing with various issues to do with what's been going on and we currently don't have a social sec, so if anyone would volunteer to organise the BBQ, that would be great. We can make the LMSC marquee available and can advertise the event.

Cheers,
Judith

Great idea Luke, we discussed similar at the committee meeting last night, may be worth you talking to Geoff.

I have two meetings set up with the Air Ambulance people, the first at Cosford next Tuesday to see how we can assist the crew in ensuring they get all the information they need for a call out to any of our sites, plus what they would like us to do as the helicopter approaches. The second is with their fund raising team, so your BBQ will be a great start.

BBQ night

hi folks

myself and chris have spoken to a few people and seen the treads and think that its a good idea to try for a charity BBQ ... the details are to follow .. (when we work them out)

BUT we would look to see about sat 5th Sept if weather permits ??? :-) to be on the long mynd launch ..

we have got to check with the club on the date BUT they were happy for us to go for it just to check that does not clash with any-other event ...

if the weather is to bad we will pospone to a later date (maybe)

but please show your support and help us raise some money for the Air Ambulance

we do understand that beyondeextreme will be away on there holidays (but thats most of sept :-) ) but hope everyone else would like to join us ...
many thanks LUKE & CHRIS

Fund raising

How about put the membership fee up an extra £10, and all those £10's from everyone each year could go to the Air Ambulance. That way we would be giving a couple of thousand pounds each year every year.

We discussed (and agreed) something similar at the committee meeting on Thursday, i.e. that we would amend the membership form to allow for a voluntary contribution to the air ambulance, which we'd collect when memberships are due, then send to the air ambulance on behalf of the members. Voluntary, though, not compulsory.

I am NOT AGAINST supporting the Air Ambulance service and I, like many others, regularly contribute to its fund-raising initiatives.

But I think we should not get carried away thinking that PG accidents are a major part of their work. In view if the fact that road accidents constitute BY FAR the majority of their call-outs and motorists pay VAST amounts to the government in taxes perhaps we should be lobbying our politicians to come up with more funding ?

From 1991 to December 2005

Road traffic accidents attended 9719
Falls 2186
Hospital Transfers 1680
Horse riding accidents 1597
Sporting Accidents 1085
Collapses 1129
Work/Farm Accidents 936
Medical Emergencies 602
Aircraft & Glider Accidents 194
Climbing Accidents 192
Burns 174
Drowning 121
Railway Accidents 48
Fires 45
Shootings 33
Other accidents 501
TOTAL = 20,242
