Event of the year May 12th 2012 the crown inn at wentna We’ll be celebrating our club pilot’s achievements from the last year and there’s drinking and eating. it’s great for meeting other club members. we’re hoping the weather will be perfect for flying - let’s fly from the mynd to the pub.
this year we had teams from LMSC, Beyond Extreme and North Wales competing at Rednal near oswestry. it was geat fun even in the rain. definitely one for next year. beer and food after
august 5th, the station inn marshbrook (just south of church stretton on the A49. he’s back following the success of last year. adam will be singing and entertaining us along with his co-singer, calling themselves ‘Fate’. they really do put on a good show. free entrance. enjoy a delicious meal in the pub first. raffle for air ambulance. camp in the pub campsite or in their wooden camping pods
Our well loved food feast is held the following day - August 6th. hopefully on a sunny westerly evening. it’s on the Long mynd and open to members and their partners. there is cake stall, second hand equipment stall, music till dawn, merriment and a raffle for the air ambulance. bring your own food and drink. last year was great, it was attended by many - and we all got to fly till dusk. how perfect was that?
it’s something we all hope we’ll never need to do - but would you know how to help someone who had been injured whilst flying? having basic yet effective knowledge of first aid could make all the difference. in the autumn 2011 we will be running a first aid course aimed specifically to cover the type of injuries para/hand glider pilots might incur. you will be taught how to assess the situation, organise others and report accurate information if needed. we’ve ran this course twice now. it’s reasuring to know there are already people on the hill who are trained to help. wouldn’t it be great to have more!
