Competitions

The committee member for competitions is Dave Jackson-Hobbs (comps@longmynd.org). Please contact Dave for information on competitions in which the LMSC is taking part.

Club competitions and tasks

The club is organising a series of informal competitions, together with some easier tasks to help you develop your XC skills. The competitions will have prizes awarded at the next Big Bash, which will be in Spring 2010.

Externally organised competitons

The Long Mynd also hosts externally organised competitions, such as the British Paragliding Cup, the Hang Gliding Open, etc. In order to maintain the sites, and avoid the danger of over-crowding the club now has a number of terms and conditions for competitions. These are:

• there is a £100 charge for use of the Mynd sites, payable to the club in advance of the competition.
• No bank holiday weekends are available for competitions.
• Organisers should be aware that due to recent changes by the National Trust parking can now be a problem and a shuttle bus may be a good solution.
• Comp pilots should be brought to launch as late as possible to avoid congestion on take off.

Any queries regarding holding competitions at Long Mynd sites should be addressed to Dave at comps@longmynd.org. Please check with him first that the proposed dates are suitable. Once you have agreed the dates with him, complete the booking form below, and send off the form together with the payment to the address on the form. Note that BCC comps do not need to pay, but you MUST still check the dates with Dave.
