Why join the LMSC?
The LMSC is a very long established hang gliding and paragliding club, and boasts one of the best westerly sites in the country, as well as a number of other sites taking most wind directions. Joining the club costs £30.00 a year, and brings you various benefits. If you fly our sites regularly, do consider joining the club!
The Long Mynd site
The Long Mynd take off field is owned by the club. It is located just east of the border between England and mid-Wales, and is one of the best hang gliding and paragliding sites in the UK. There is a site fee of £3.00 per day to non-members.
Other sites
The club manages a number of other sites in Shropshire and East Wales on behalf of members, taking a variety of wind directions. Several sites are members only. Visiting pilots need to contact the chairman, secretary, membership secretary, or coaches to check on flying access during the year.
Coaching
There are a number of coaches within the club, who will help any pilots seeking advice on the hill. Coaching events and exam sessions are arranged occasionally or are available on request.
The web site, forum and Facebook group
We keep members informed of news, social events, contacts, coaching and competition events, equipment and gliders for sale, etc.

Midland Gliding Club ‘Experience Flights’ – these are usually £125 but discounted to LMSC members to only £75. This is a great way to see if perhaps progressing to a sailplane course is for you, or just to experience a different aircraft over the Mynd! The best way to book these is by telephone to the MGC office on 01588 650206 (but there is often quite a long waiting list!).
Some sports/outdoor shops offer sports clubs & BHPA members a discount – always worth enquiring and taking your BHPA card along, no harm in asking!

Membership fees
The membership year runs from 1st May to 30th April. The membership fee is £30.
